WHAT DO THE RESULTS MEAN
YOUR DISTINCTIVENESS REPORT
Once you have completed your survey work, the survey author will be able
to manipulate the tool-kit to automatically generate a series of charts which
shows your actual levels of distinctiveness across the various survey tasks.
The Outputs
This series of charts can be saved within your IGNITE web-space, downloaded to your own PC or printed out. The outputs should be:
- 1. Vitality and Viability
- 2. Distinctiveness
- a. Environment
- b. Independent Retail
- c. Independent Food and Drink
- d. Markets
- e. Customer Care
- 3. Profile of Distinctiveness
- 4. Position of Your Market Town Within Vitality and Viability and Distinctiveness

What Does It Mean?
The vitality and distinctiveness charts show your actual scores which have been generated from you inputting your survey results, against your full potential. At this point you need to assess whether the graphs are a true reflection of your data entry.
If need to check specific data for accuracy or potential errors you can revisit your survey by clicking on the specific section.
If you are satisfied with the graphs, then they are ready for analysis and insertion into local reports on the distinctiveness survey for your market town. An example of a completed survey report can be viewed in the document library.
Your profile of distinctiveness is an aggregation of the individual survey tasks, which provides a snapshot of where your town is strong and where it needs to address specific activities. This will help your respective market town when shaping any future action plans and will assist you with the future monitoring of progress made as you implement actions.
The final chart shows your current position in relation to Vitality and Viability and Distinctiveness and poses questions as to where you want to be when deciding on future role and function as a shopping and visitor destination. It can also help as a tool for understanding future interventions that are proposed for your town centre and whether you would move towards a more distinctive place or not. It can also complement any wider visioning or strategic work you or your local partnership is undertaking in your town.
